My sink runneth over

Sonny, JJ and Bethany replaced our upstairs bathroom faucet over the weekend. We used to have one that you had to pull up and it was really hard to do, Jordan couldn't get it by herself. In the interest of her independence we wanted an easier one. The old one had been missing it's stopper for years (this is an important fact as you will see :)). When they took apart the sink they found two toothbrushes and a screwdriver down the drain!

This new faucet has set Jordan and Timothy on a new hygiene crusade the last couple of days. They can both turn the water on and off and have washed their hands and brushed their teeth more times than I can count! This morning everyone else had left for school and Timothy wandered into the bathroom where I heard the water get turned on. No big deal - I was sitting in the living room working on the computer and calling my dad. I could hear what was going on so I figured if he was in trouble I would know it. All my toddlers have loved to play in the water and it's water - how much damage can it do? As I am talking to my dad, Tater comes out a little dripping (he was concerned his new Thomas shirt - thanks Dawn - was wet) but not enough to worry about.

I got off the phone and Sesame Street was about to come on - good time to go take my shower so I figure I better turn off the water and close the bathroom door. Uh yeah - with the new hardware the stopper that was missing before is no longer gone and apparently quite fascinating to Timothy. The stopper was in and water was pouring over the edge of the sink down the vent underneath. Th upstairs bathroom wasn't too badly flooded (due to the vent) but when I went downstairs I could have almost taken a shower without turning on the shower!!

So the big question - which is worse toothbrushes down my drain or water flooding through the vents? Hmm - prior to kids I never thought I would ponder these questions of the universe!!!
